Our original name was Mandalay Wellbeing CIC changing to Football Against Dementia CIC in April 2022 following the success of this project. Our goal is still the same…to help people. This is an overview of some of our achievements.

Football Against Dementia History Timeline

Our first Dementia Event
We brought together former footballing legends, clinicians and support groups to raise awareness of dementia. The idea for Football Against Dementia had not yet been conceived.
Talk Away Take Away

We provided free food and clothing etc. to local homeless people and people facing challenges supported by GPs from East Norfolk Medical Practice who were on hand to provide clinical assistance. The group ran for over 2 years.

The Christmas Stocking Campaign!

Following a donation of 250 Christmas Stockings from Towergate Insurance we decided to bring people together to help fill Christmas stockings for local people in need…The campaign really caught the imagination.. and really helped a lot of people. 500 plus other items were distributed in the first year. The campaign is now in its 6th year.

Effective Board Member

Association of Corporate Governance Practitioners. In 2019 I qualified as a member of the ACGP. This would not have been possible without the support of The Professional Footballers Association. Karl George MBE, Oshor Williams and everyone involved with the 12 month course. Thank You, lessons learnt have really helped keep us going.

Slater Menswear

Simon Cheeseman and everyone at Slater Menswear have been a rock solid supporter of what we do. They have donated thousands of pounds worth of interview suits and clothing which we have put to good use helping people into employment and volunteering roles. This was part of our first donation.

Men Talk About It

Men Talk About It. Is an initiative to encourage Men to talk about any problems at an early stage to prevent escalation of problems. We are still working on getting men to talk!

We moved premises in the later part of the year, received a donation of 2500 Christmas Stockings..and went for it ! It was a huge campaign with 3 distribution sessions across Norfolk and Waveney. 2500 Stockings plus around 8000 larger items were distributed to people in need. We also received the prestigious BBC Radio Norfolk Community Volunteer of the Year Award. And had a film made by Amy Beth Steadman of That’s TV Norfolk.

Food Collection Point Tesco, Caister

Following the 2019 Christmas Stocking Campaign we built our relationship with Tesco Caister and in particular ‘Saint’ Bradie Hubbard. We were granted a food collection point to help with our groups. This proved to be a huge help with what was about to come…

Sundown Festival Clearance

We have now helped clear Sundown Festival of discarded tents, sleeping bags etc and re distributed them to local homeless people and support groups including the NHS and Councils. This was the first of 3 annual clearances with over 2000 items collected and recycled.

Win or Lose Have Shiny Shoes

Early part of 2020 we were just about to launch our new employment initiative ‘Win or Lose Have Shiny Shoes’…Then…Covid hit! We will be relaunching this project as part of our employment initiative Take A Chance On Me
