We created Football Against Dementia to help anyone affected by Dementia. We understand, from personal experience, the financial and emotional challenges to supporting a loved one with Dementia and aim to provide practical help and support.
“My Mum has had Dementia for 8 years and myself and my brother have had to learn and adapt to Dementia, it has been a really tough journey full of ups and downs. We found that the support available did not really meet ours or our Mums needs. We understand the pressure and difficulties families can go through providing care for a loved one with Dementia”
“The moment I decided to set up Football Against Dementia was when I watched the BBC interview with our first Ambassador, Chris Sutton, about his Father Mike Sutton’s journey with Dementia. I was genuinely moved to tears, as Im sure many have been, and in that instance, I knew I was not alone in this journey, and passionately wanted to create something positive to help others” Trevor Saunders BEM , founder of Football Against Dementia.

BUILD A CLUB TO FIGHT DEMENTIA
Our project is designed to replicate a ‘Football Club’ we aim to grow and progress through the leagues and face the challenges which come our way.
From the outset we realised that former professional and amateur footballers are adversely affected by dementia. And that there is a real passion and determination within the football family to help people and bring about long term sustainable change and support to anyone affected by dementia.
It is clear to us that the 850,000 people who have dementia in the UK is only a small part of the number who have to live with the disease on a daily basis. Our club aims to help everyone.
CLUB STRUCTURE
We are supported by volunteers who freely give their time and expertise to take up vital club roles.
